ASC Coronavirus policy

The Australian Shiatsu College is following the Coronavirus situation very carefully, and is ensuring our policies and procedures around health and safety are transparent, clear, up-to-date with the latest advice. We are ensuring these procedures are followed by all members of the College, both staff and students, for the health and wellbeing of all who visit us at the College.

We advise that if you are intending to visit the College premises, please do not attend if you are/have

  • Cold/flu like symptoms including fever, dry cough, muscle/joint aches, fatigue
  • Been in close contact with someone within your friendship or family groups  who has or is showing symptoms of coronavirus in the last 2 weeks
  • Recently (last 14 days) returned from overseas travel
  • Been in contact with someone within your friendship or family groups recently returned from overseas in the last 2 weeks
  • High-risk because of work (eg hospital worker)

All staff and students are educated in clinical hygiene practices and infection control. While we already have thorough health and safety practices in place, we are being more vigilant in our efforts to prevent disease transmission. In addition to the previous efforts regarding social distancing, this includes:

  • Disinfecting communal surfaces regularly
  • Ensuring head cloths/face linen is changed between treatments
  • Making hand sanitiser available for all treating practitioners

We ask that as a visitor to the College you support our efforts to keep the College a healthy and safe space by:

  • Thoroughly wash your hands before your treatment in the clinic (we have “how to wash your hands” charts above our sinks)
  • Cover your mouth/nose when sneezing or coughing with disposable tissues (or your elbow if tissues are not available), dispose of the tissues in the bin,  and either wash your hands thoroughly or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser immediately afterwards.

Your health and wellbeing, and that of our staff and students is of utmost importance to us.

We also recommend you study the following resources to empower yourself to make a self-assessment of your own personal risk for infection

We wish to be able to provide student and practitioner clinic opportunities to the general public for as long as possible, whilst retaining a safe environment for all visitors to the College.

We appreciate your ongoing support and assistance in ensuring the health of our community.
