Creating an LGBTIQ+ inclusive practice is more than just expanding the gender field on your intake form.
This workshop, for health care practitioners, will look at the psychosocial aspects of sexuality. It includes sex and gender diversity, the social construction of gender, same-sex attraction (identity v behaviour) and concepts such as pansexuality, intersex and gender fluidity. It will also explore practical tips for inclusive practices when working with diverse communities.
Nellie Collier is a sexual health educator and health promotion worker. She studied and lectured in sexology at Curtin University and has worked as a senior educator at Family Planning WA.
Nellie has written and facilitated sexual and reproductive health education programs for health, education and welfare professionals, CALD groups, sex workers, parents, community groups, and students in primary, secondary and tertiary education. She has found that the trickiest questions usually come from primary school students.
