Semester Two enrolments now open for Zen Shiatsu and Oriental Medicine Frameworks

Classical Shiatsu

Classical shiatsu short course
Upcoming Dates:

Classical Shiatsu is a form of Shiatsu taught specifically at the Australian Shiatsu College, and is grounded in the work of Tokujiro Namakoshi.  It is distinct from other forms of Shiatsu, as the use of TCM meridians and TCM meridian theory is not fundamental to Classical Shiatsu. However, an understanding of Western anatomy will support your study of Classical Shiatsu.

This style of Shiatsu predominantly uses fingers, thumbs and hands to palpate areas of the body, and to apply pressure to particular points and point sequences to assess and treat at the same time. It is a whole-body approach to health and well-being and is derived from the main form of Shiatsu available in Japan today.

Classical Shiatsu runs for 9 weeks.

Those wishing to study further and become full Shiatsu Practitioners could then continue their studies in our Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Medicine.

This short course has a prerequisite of prior study in Zen Shiatsu.
